About

Charmaine Lenisa (born 1971 in Capetown, South Africa) spent her early childhood in Canada, Switserland and London (UK). She later (at the age of ten years old) moved to The Hague (Holland). She now lives in Mechelen (Belgium). She started drawing at a young age. At first inspired by her father, also an artist and photographer Bruno Lenisa 'Bacos' (born in Trieste, Italy 1945- 2012) and by her travels (visiting museums and so on). Later she drew comics. In 1987, an article was published in the Newspaper 'Het Vrije Volk' about her comics and drawings. In 1990 she started to paint with oil colors and got inspired by surrealism. In 1994 she got her diploma Fashion illustration and in 1997 she studied Art history. In 1998 she had private art lessons from a known Dutch painter Frans Erkelens (born in Jakarta, Indonesia 1937-2016) and in 2000 she started to develop her own style as an artist.
